Massimo Sbarbaro

Massimo Sbarbaro is a medieval historian at ZRS Koper - Science and Research Centre Koper, where he directs the Adriatic Laboratory for Digital Humanities and Heritage Innovation (ALDHI). His research focuses on medieval documentary sources, notarial registers, economic history, the Adriatic area and the application of digital methods to historical corpora. He has worked on medieval contracts, monetary circulation, price movements and the serial analysis of documentary sources, with particular attention to the transformation of archival material into structured historical evidence. Within ALDHI, he coordinates research on digitisation, transcription, multilingual documentary corpora, semantic extraction and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the humanities.
