Melita Aleksa Varga

Melita Aleksa Varga is a Croatian paremiologist and applied linguist. Since 2022, she has served as Editor-in-Chief of Proverbium: Yearbook of International Proverb Scholarship, a Scopus-indexed journal, and of the Proverbium Online Supplement book series dedicated to paremiological research. Together with Hrisztalina Hrisztova-Gotthardt, she co-edited the seminal volume Introduction to Paremiology: A Comprehensive Guide to Proverb Studies, published by De Gruyter in 2015. She has published more than forty scholarly papers on Croatian, English, German, and Hungarian proverbs, as well as the research monograph Proverbs in Contemporary Croatian: From the Paremiological Minimum to the Optimum.
