Violeta Moretti

Violeta Moretti, PhD, is an Associate Professor, classical philologist and linguist. She holds a doctorate in the humanities (field of philology), with a thesis titled Language and Style of the Latin Poetic Epistles of Pavao Ritter Vitezović. An experienced scholar, she has published numerous critical editions of Latin texts and a series of studies focusing primarily on the socio-historical and linguistic aspects of Croatian Latinist literature; she has also presented her work at approximately thirty international and domestic academic conferences. She is a collaborator on the project “Linguistic and Cultural Heritage of Istria” and previously collaborated on three Croatian Science Foundation projects; in 2022, she received the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) award for outstanding scientific achievements in the social sciences (for the book Bernardin Frankapan Modruški, Oratio pro Croatia – Speech for Croatia – 500th Anniversary, co-authored with Ivan Jurković). At Juraj Dobrila University, she teaches linguistics and philology courses across several study programmes.
